About them

We are Rolf and Henning. We’ve built a life full of love, stability and care, surrounded by a close circle of family and friends, and our greatest wish is to share that with a child. We feel deep gratitude for the person who helps us on this journey and hope to build a warm, lasting connection along the way.

Relationship status

Married

Becoming parents is a dream that grew over time. At first, we focused on our life as a couple. We travelled the world, studied hard, and built our careers. Then, time with the kids in our lives changed everything. We watched Rolf's niece and nephews play in Chile. We held Henning's baby niece, Ella. And we laughed with our friends' children. Their joy and wonder showed us what family really means. Nothing matches that warmth, not big trips or work wins. For us, helping a child grow is the greatest joy. We can't wait to raise ours in our renovated home. We'll share our good life with family trips, new cultures, and time with loved ones. Our child will grow happy, confident, and kind, speaking German and Spanish.

We came to surrogacy after carefully exploring family-building options as a same-sex couple in Germany, including adoption and various international paths. Through our network, we met many gay families with kids and learned from their experiences.

Ultimately, we chose surrogacy in Canada for its altruistic system, its focus on helping others, and its clear, secure legal framework that protects surrogates, donors, and intended parents.

We also value Canada's emphasis on openness over anonymity, aligning with our wish to let our future child know their donor and surrogate.

Our journey has been underway for about 1.5 years. We started with Anova in the summer of 2024, flew to Canada to provide our samples and undergo medical checks (we are open to sharing the results with you), and felt truly comfortable in the clinic environment and with the team's support. After our medical clearance, an extensive search and interviews led us to our wonderful egg donor, with whom we have a lot in common. This led us to create embryos together. We feel incredibly grateful, sometimes overwhelmed, by the excitement and support from friends, family and especially our donor, with whom we've been sharing our progress.

This experience confirms surrogacy in Canada is the right path for us, and we've now started working with Her Helping Habit, hoping to find our surrogate.

When our child arrives, here are some family traditions we would like to pass on. Both our families really enjoy playing board games. We keep this tradition, and we spend several hours in winter playing board games with friends and family.

Having a nice and fresh breakfast on the weekends with long conversations is another one. Starting the day calmly with a delicious breakfast at the table with our families, laughing and planning the day, is just the perfect way to start the weekend.

We love taking long walks by the river or in the forest to talk, move, and clear our minds of the daily busyness.

Christmas with our family is a must for us, and we always visit either Henning's or Rolf's family for the festive days. Germany has an abundance of Christmas traditions, and we do them all, from Advent calendars to singing, baking and decorating the Christmas tree. This year, Rolf's family will even fly in from Chile to Germany and spend it with Henning's family. It will be a big Christmas party! We are really looking forward to it.

For Rolf, coming from Chile, having barbecues with family during summer days, sitting together and talking for hours, is a must.

Each year, we drive somewhere close with Henning's family for about a week and visit a new place in Europe.

Their hopes and requirements for a surrogate
Requirements

Our clinic shared a few key health criteria to help ensure a safe and healthy journey for everyone. We’re hoping to match with a surrogate who:

  • Has had a prior baby

  • Is in good overall health (no chronical medical conditions)

  • No more than 3 Caesarean sections/agrees to planned Cesarian delivery

  • No history of Pélvico Inflammatory Disease

  • No history of pregnancy complications

  • No addictions (no smoking, no alcohol, no drugs)

  • Must have had a normal sonohysterogram

  • Is ideally under the age of 43

  • Has a BMI under 35

The relationship we hope to build

We want to build an open, transparent relationship with you, grounded in trust, respect, and honesty. So these are the most important qualities for us. We hope for a surrogate who is warm and empathetic. Above all, we value trustworthiness, genuine joy during the journey and a sense of humor to share laughs through the ups and downs. We know we're not perfect ourselves and just want a real human, taking really care about herself and our baby.

Family means a lot to us, and it feels right to give our child the opportunity to stay connected with you over time. This could include video calls, sharing updates, and even visiting you in Canada or meeting in person when they are older—always in a way that respects your wishes and boundaries.

We truly hope for a warm and meaningful connection between us. Since one of us lost their mother at a young age, we also see this from our child’s perspective. We would love for them to have the chance to know the wonderful person who helped us create our family—someone who can share stories about her pregnancy, her journey, and what inspired her to take this path.

Vaccination information

We are looking for a surrogate who has received their full childhood vaccinations, to protect both the baby’s health and your wellbeing during pregnancy.

Views on termination

We deeply desire a healthy child who can lead a joyful, self-dependent life, alongside a surrogacy process that poses no high risks to our surrogate. This guides us in regards to termination. While we are fully committed to parenthood, we support it only in rare cases of severe fetal anomalies or significant health risks to the child or you, to prevent profound suffering. We are definitly open to discuss this point in details.

Fun facts about me

I’m notoriously bad at ball sports. My dad, brothers, and Rolf are all super talented, but I usually spot the ball too late, and when I do hit it, it flies everywhere except where it should. I’m super competitive so I avoided these sports for a long time, but by now I can laugh about my wild shots and play anyway.

I love being on the move, whether it’s biking and hiking in summer, skiing in winter, or taking long road trips. I used to ride a motorcycle regularly, but these days I prefer a scooter. As a kid, I was an active glider pilot and loved seeing the world from above. That’s actually why I became an aerospace engineer.

When it comes to sleep, I have two personalities. I’m usually in bed by 10 pm and up early, feeling fresh and energized. Unless there's a chance to go dancing with friends. Then I’m one of the last to leave, totally happy to sacrifice my sleep.

I’ve dreamed of growing fig and olive trees ever since my first holidays in Italy. When we bought our house, they were among the first things I planted—but northern Germany’s weather just won’t fully cooperate. They grow, but they don’t exactly look like the lush ones thriving back in Italy!

Interests and hobbies

I love spending time with my family. I grew up in western Germany with my two brothers in a close-knit family home. Family has always been a huge part of my life, and I feel incredibly lucky I have grown up surrounded by grandparents, aunts, and uncles who are still very important to me today. What means the most to me is how close my family and Rolf's family have become. Celebrating Christmas together this year, with Rolf’s family flying in from Chile, felt especially meaningful. I’m very excited to raise our child in such a loving, supportive, and connected circle of family and friends.

In my free time, I love being outdoors, especially hiking and biking, spending time with friends, meeting up for evenings at home, cooking and playing games together.

I’ve always loved travelling, but Rolf has taken it to a whole new level. At least once a year, we explore a different part of the world, and our frequent visits to his family keep us constantly on the move, discovering new cultures and landscapes. I truly enjoy it now more than ever.

Professionally, I studied Aeronautical Engineering and now work in project management. I really appreciate it because of its international environment, the variety it offers, and the opportunity to collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

What friends say
“

My friends would describe me as enthusiastic, caring, and very organized. I move through life with a lot of positive energy and excitement for the people and moments that matter to me.

At the same time, many of my friends would smile and say that I can never really sit still and relax. I almost always have a mental to-do list running in the background, thinking about what’s next and how to make things better.

A small example of this is when friends or family visit us. I love planning those days in detail, thinking about what they would enjoy, preparing meals, organizing little activities, and making sure everything feels welcoming and effortless for them. Seeing others feel comfortable and cared for when they are with us makes me really happy!

Fun facts about me

When I was a kid, I used to spend hours looking through the world atlas, learning all the countries and their capital cities. I was especially fascinated by very small countries. Even today, I love researching international train and flight connections to make each trip as convenient as possible. Following my passion for exploring the world map, I moved from Chile to Germany when I was 24.

When I was a teenager, I started doing New Year’s Eve rituals. There’s one in particular that I do every year, no matter where I am. I pack a suitcase and spend midnight standing on a chair with the suitcase so that I’ll travel a lot in the new year. During my student exchange year, I forgot to do it, and my best friend reminded me after midnight—he said it was midnight somewhere in the world. That ritual has definitely paid off every year!

I love singing karaoke, but I can’t sing at all. I often ask my friends if they want to go karaoke with me, but nobody ever joins. When we were in China, we went to a karaoke bar, and Henning filmed me singing. I didn’t manage to hit a single note! 😂 Still, I had a great time!

Interests and hobbies

I really enjoy playing volleyball, both indoors and on the beach during the summer. I train once a week with a local club.

I also love cycling—either for my daily commute or on longer bike tours. I really enjoy spending time outdoors, whether it’s hiking, taking long walks, or running along the Elbe. I often listen to podcasts or have calls with my sister or friends from Chile while I’m out.

After my last visit with my niece, we started painting mandalas together while listening to music. I really enjoy that quiet time for myself and love seeing the finished result afterward.

I also cherish spending quality time with my loved ones, just being together, talking for hours, or playing board games.

What friends say
“

My friends would describe me as supportive, vibrant, and positive. I always try to be there for them emotionally, because being loyal and caring deeply about the people I love really matters to me. I’m someone who tends to see the bright side of things and stay calm, even in difficult situations — I try to look at problems from a balanced and neutral perspective.
