About them

Two nerdy, silly, and adventurous Canadians who can't wait to become dads are looking for a rockstar surrogate to help us grow our family. We hope to raise a future child with plenty of cuddles, outdoor adventures, and board games... and hopefully our journey together will have a healthy smattering of laughter and happy tears along the way!

Relationship status

Common law

We're Blake and Stuart, two Canadians living in Vancouver, British Columbia. We have been together for 15 awesome years!

We met online in Toronto. Blake was working at a summer job and Stuart was just finishing his first year of law school. A summer romance, Blake had planned to head back to Vancouver at the end of the summer, but fell in love and made the decision to switch his studies to Toronto. After a few years of dating, we moved in together, and after 10 years together in Toronto we moved to Vancouver where we've been for the last 5 years. 15 years later and we still know how to make each other laugh!

We've got 6 nieces and nephews and love being the "fun Uncles", chasing them around and giving our siblings a bit of a break!

We enjoy getting friends and family together. We like to do a lot of cooking at home. Neither of us drink much and generally we like to go to bed early. We both run regularly and bike to work. We love to hike - it is one of the main reasons we moved back to Vancouver and are thriving here! We realize we could spend a lifetime on the west coast and still only scratch the surface exploring the natural beauty out here.

We enjoy cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter months. We love hanging out at the beach and going for a dip in the ocean. We also like to meditate, go for long walks, and have taken cognitive behavioural therapy to better our mental health. We have always loved to play games - board games, card games, word games. We love to get our friends together and try out new games and master old ones!

What they're looking for
Their hopes and requirements for a surrogate
Requirements

After discussion with our clinic and their requirements, we are looking for a gestational carrier between 21 and 45 years old who has completed at least one uncomplicated, full-term pregnancy, with no more than four prior deliveries and no more than three C-sections.

Ideally, you are in good overall health (a BMI under 35 is preferred), have a stable home environment and strong support system, and are a non-smoker. You and your partner (if applicable) should be comfortable completing the medical evaluations, psychological screening, and Canadian legal requirements involved in the surrogacy process.

Above all, we value open communication, honesty, and building a positive, supportive partnership throughout this journey.

The relationship we hope to build

We are open to matching with anybody as long as the chemistry is right. Let's have a chat and see if we're a match for each other!

Vaccination information

We would hope that our surrogate would take any vaccinations that are strongly recommended by their medical practitioner for the safety of both the surrogate and the fetus. We will respect the surrogate's decision to forgo any vaccinations that not strongly recommended by their medical practitioner.

Views on termination

We recognize that pregnancy can present serious risk to a surrogate's life or health that may call for pregnancy termination, and we would fully support termination required to protect the life or health of our surrogate. We also understand that as intended parents there is a risk of a prospective child having disabilities. In the event of identification of severe disabilities that would likely severely limit a child's quality of life, we would hope that our surrogate would consider termination. We also hope that our surrogate be willing to undergo testing about the health of the fetus if strongly advised by medical practitioners.

Fun facts about me

Blake is a total weather nerd - even in his off time you'll find him looking up forecasts and checking out the sky conditions. He enjoys running and ran his first half-marathon last year. Blake loves anything to do with the weather - since 5 years old, Blake was fascinated with meteorology and always wanted to be a "weatherman". It's been a dream come true working at Environment Canada. In addition, Blake really loves gardening. He is also admittedly a recovering reality TV junkie!
