Here are the following criteria from our clinic:

·        Must have Body Mass Index (BMI) ≤ 35

·        Must have had a prior baby

·        No chronic medical conditions

·        No more than 3 caesarean sections

·        Agrees to planned cesarian delivery (if deemed medically necessary by obstetrics care provider)

·        No history of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)

·        No history of pregnancy complications

·        No addictions (no smoking, no alcohol, no drugs)

·        Must have had a normal sonohysterogram (SHG)

·        No older than 43 years of age

What we have in mind is close to what we would expect from a godmother. We are looking for a woman who will be open to building a close relationship with us before and after her pregnancy. We realize that she has her own family, and we do not want to impose a schedule of phone calls, so we will be ready to follow the surrogate's wishes. We are social guys, so we hope to build a real friendship with the person who is giving us such a gift. We also wish to maintain this bond after the birth to provide regular updates and for our child to know all about her/his history.

We would prefer termination only in an extreme case of severe physical or mental disabilities/abnormalities (no quality of life). In case of multiple pregnancy and regarding selective reduction, if there are two fetuses, we would prefer to keep both. Eventually, we leave the final decision to the surrogate and obstetrics care provider.
