Our story is one of resilience, challenges, and love. About 10 years ago Therese got sick with an illness that resulted in her becoming a bilateral below-the-knee amputee. In addition, she had to undergo a full hysterectomy that prevents her from being able to carry a child. We've been on a long journey. That said, we've come a long way. We're both stable responsible and capable people. We're both professionals with steady jobs. We've both got loving families. We're ready to grow our own. Seeking a surrogate is not something one does lightly but we're ready. We both always wanted children. We know we can become loving, understanding, and empathetic parents. We're ready to take the next step and we're hoping there is a caring and compassionate person out there who can help us do that.

Well, I coach basketball at the elementary school I work at. I LOVE basketball and being with the students, getting a chance to mentor them and be a part of a team. Although, we do not have a TV so I generally watch the playoffs. But when I coach, I really enjoy learning new plays and drills from youtube. Due to my disability, I cannot play anymore, but I can coach! I also practice mysore yoga and have been doing so for almost two decades. I after I became an amputee, I contacted my yoga teacher to help modify the poses for me. She was such a huge help and blessing. With her help, I was able to continue practicing yoga, caring for my new body, and growing in understanding. I also have had the privilege of having been published. My first book as a book of poems, "Phantompains", and my second book came out this spring, "Jelly Baby: Essays on disability and vulnerability", both were published by Book*hug. I've been very fortunate that my work as a writer has given me the opportunity to help edit various special issues on disability (Arc Poetry Mag, Feels Zine, The Fiddlehead). I even got to teach poetry at U of T School of Continuing Studies. I feel very fortunate that I get to experience different parts of myself. Myself as a resource teacher, as a poet, as a disability advocate, and hopefully, as a mom.
I love riding my bike, dancing, singing kareoke (when I can), reading and writing. I have a disability, am a bilateral below knee amputee, so I also love floating in water whenever I can, or riding my recumbent bike when the weather is lovely (and even not so lovely) with Ez. I also just got into perfume! It is quite an expensive hobby, so I am more of an observer/learner than purchaser of perfumes. Learning about perfumes makes me realize how everything is connected, our senses to nature, how beauty and desire are not just about consumerism but they are connected to the spiritual as well.
“”Funny, warm, generous, calm and resilient. They would also say that I am a loyal friend who is there for them whenever they need me, and that I am outgoing and adventurous! They would also say that I am very family oriented and have a diverse group of friends. I am still in touch with my highschool friends and those I've met through teacher's college, my time in Yellowknife with Ezra, and the folkx I connected with through my training at the Centre for Training in Psychotherapy. I feel very blessed to have a wide community, loving parents and sister, and a deep partnership with husband, who I love and consider my best friend.
