About them

After 18 years together, we’re proud Irish dads to an amazing little boy and a very loved 14-year-old golden retriever (our “first born”). Family life, staying active, and making memories together are what matter most to us. We’re now hoping to expand our family through surrogacy and meet a wonderful woman who would like to be part of that journey with us.

Relationship status

Married

As mentioned above, we have been side by side for 18 wonderful years which, in internet years, is practically prehistoric! We met online before apps were even a thing, back when romance blossomed over the gentle ping of MSN Messenger. After a couple of weeks of chatting, we decided to meet in person and from that day on, we’ve never looked back.

On paper, you might think we’re an unlikely match. In many ways, we’re complete opposites. Shane has a keen love of sport while Jonny is more likely to be found watching The Real Housewives. Jonny is outgoing, chatty, and sociable while Shane is more reserved and quietly observant. Shane would happily settle in for a football match on TV, were Jonny might gently suggest something with a bit more drama and sequins.

And yet, somehow, this beautiful contrast is exactly what works.

What truly binds us isn’t shared hobbies, it’s shared values. We both believe life is meant to be lived fully, with great memories, meaningful experiences, and as much laughter as possible along the way. We very rarely argue and even then, it’s more of a disagreement than anything dramatic. In fact, on our wedding day, we were gifted a box and told to only open it in the event of a serious argument. To this day, the box remains unopened and hopefully always will.

Every night before bed, and every morning before heading out the door, we make a point to say “I love you.” It’s a small ritual, but one that quietly says everything.

Over the years, we’ve supported one another through every chapter of adult life so far, professionally, personally, and emotionally. We’ve grown into adulthood together, shaped our careers side by side, and stood shoulder to shoulder through life’s hardest moments. Jonny through the sudden loss of his mum 14 years ago. Shane through the sudden loss of his best friend 9 years ago. In those moments, and all the ones in between, we were simply there for each other.

Our outlook on life is unfailingly positive. We share a belief that life is an adventure best experienced together. We often say that when we look back on our lives someday, we want to be able to say: we did the best we could, and we had as much fun as we possibly could along the way.

Kids today
1.

The smallest (and loudest) member of the household, Noah, our two-and-a-half-year-old son and absolute pride and joy.

Noah has two speeds, full volume and asleep. We often say he’s like a bull in a china shop, when he enters a room, you know he has entered the room. And if there’s a minor injury waiting to happen somewhere, Noah will be the one to locate it with impressive efficiency.

But beneath the chaos is the sweetest little person you could ever meet. He’s incredibly intelligent, endlessly loving, and almost always laughing. He has the brightest smile, complete with beautiful white teeth and the cutest dimples, and he shares it generously with everyone he meets.

We already know he’s going to be an amazing big brother one day. He’s wonderfully gentle with younger children and so caring with all of his little friends. In fact, his current best friend is his older sister, Sandy, our dog.

Requirements

Our clinic provides the criteria.

The relationship we hope to build

We’re open to all personalities when it comes to finding the right surrogate. What matters most to us is mutual trust, honest communication, and a warm, respectful connection throughout the journey and beyond. We’d love to be able to text when something’s on our minds and have the occasional FaceTime catch-up, while always being guided by whatever level of contact feels comfortable and right for our surrogate.

Vaccination information

None

Views on termination

Our view on termination is that we would only consider it if it were strongly advised by medical professionals or if the surrogate’s life were at risk.

Fun facts about me

A couple of fun facts about me: I left school and went straight to work in aviation because I never saw myself as the academic type. Fast forward 15 years and I decided to go to university, earned my master’s degree, and somehow ended up as valedictorian (which surprised me as much as everyone else!).

Also, I’m very proud to say my mum competed in fitness competitions in her 30s and went on to become Miss NABBA Universe, so technically, I’m the son of Miss Universe.

Interests and hobbies

I’m a big fan of staying active, if I ever get time, you’ll usually find me at the gym or on a walk in the forest or by the coast. I’m very social and love quality time with friends (bonus points if there’s good coffee or a cheeky glass of wine involved). I have a serious travel itch, especially for mini adventures around Ireland, hunting down quirky hidden gems perfect for weekend escapes. I’m also pretty creative, I once ran my own small business making ceramic hand and footprints for babies and paw prints for dogs, because obviously they deserve memorabilia too.

What friends say
“

My friends would say I’m the dependable one, the person you call for advice, a pep talk, or a mild life crisis. I’m bubbly, sociable, and never say no to a good chat over a cup of coffee. They’d also definitely mention that I’m very organised, especially when it comes to trips, where I somehow always become the planner, itinerary-maker, and unofficial group leader (colour-coded spreadsheets may or may not be involved).

Fun facts about me

A fun fact about me is that I played at the highest level of Gaelic football in Ireland in my 20’s, which was a big personal achievement. Not many people know I also used to be an Irish dancer when I was younger, I competed and performed on cruise ships docking in Dublin city. Although I gave it up to focus more on my football.

Interests and hobbies

I’m very active and love anything sporty. I enjoy walking, regular gym sessions, cycling, and the occasional hike. I play Gaelic football, though an ankle injury last year has delayed my return to the pitch. I’m also a big fan of watching all kinds of sports, particularly Gaelic football (Irish sport) & soccer from the Premier League in the UK.

What friends say
“

I’m not the loudest person in a group and i’m quite laid back and chill. My friends would describe me as grounded, down to earth and calm. I think they would also say i’m always up for a good time and a laugh, and I'm pretty sure they’d say I'm funny and fairly easily amused.
