About them

Hi, we are April and Nathan from Coquitlam, BC

We're thrilled to search for a gestational surrogate to help us become parents.

We've been together over 11 years, first meeting in school, our bond has grown into deep trust, support, and shared laughter. Due to MRKH (no uterus), I have known I couldn't carry, but we have planned this journey thoughtfully for years: saving diligently, covering all costs, and partnering with Olive Fertility in Vancouver (3 PGTA-tested embryos + 9 untested).

We bought our first home in 2023 and love making it cozy! Our 1-year-old Vizsla, Ellie, brings joy, trail walks, and energy. We cherish hiking, game nights with friends, and family time.

I'm April, a caring nurse and ice cream operations manager who loves outdoors and reading. Nathan works for Environment Canada, and enjoys builds projects, and hiking in the mountains.

Our supportive families are excited for our journey! We value trust, communication, and genuine care, hoping for a respectful, loving journey together.

Let's chat!

Relationship status

Common law

We have been together for over 11 wonderful years. Our story began back in Grade 6 when we first met as kids, but we didn't start dating until after high school graduation.

We got engaged in 2023 after building a strong foundation together, and we've been engaged for about 3 years now. We chose to delay our wedding to focus on our biggest shared dream: becoming parents. With the exciting success of our IVF journey, we're thrilled to finally have our wedding planned for this April. It's going to be an intimate celebration with our closest family and friends.

In the meantime, we've built a beautiful life together. We bought our first home after years of renting, and we've been lovingly fixing it up ever since, turning it into our cozy little space.

We also share our home with our energetic, affectionate Vizsla puppy, who brings so much joy, chaos, and laughter into our days. She is the perfect addition to our little family and keeps us active and smiling.

We're a committed, supportive team who've grown up together, navigated big life steps side by side, and are now eagerly looking forward to expanding our family even more.

Financial preparedness

Becoming parents through IVF and surrogacy has been something we have thoughtfully planned for over many years. We both took on additional work and intentionally set aside savings specifically for this journey. It has always been important to us to approach this process responsibly and without financial stress.

We have prepared beyond the typical expected costs so that all medical, legal, and related expenses are fully covered, and so that our surrogate feels completely supported and secure throughout the journey. Our goal is for this experience to feel stable, respectful, and focused on building a relationship, not financial uncertainty.

Embryos
Yes.

We are currently working with Olive Fertility in Vancouver, BC and have 3 PGTA tested embryos (9 untested). We are willing to get more embryos tested if required or recommended.

What they're looking for
Their hopes and requirements for a surrogate
Requirements

Our clinic (Olive Fertility Clinic in Vancouver, BC) has the following requirements:

  • Be a non-smoker under 40 years of age

  • Have had uncomplicated pregnancy and delivery (born at term)

  • Have a BMI under 35

  • Be healthy

The relationship we hope to build

We are looking for someone who values open, honest communication as much as we do. For us, this journey is not just a clinical process, it is a partnership built on trust and mutual respect. We’d love to find a surrogate who is down-to-earth, enjoys a good laugh, and is comfortable sharing the big milestones and the small updates along the way. Whether you have a busy family life or a quiet one, what matters most to us is that you feel supported and appreciated by us every step of the way.

Vaccination information

We tend to follow the lead of our medical team at Olive Fertility. For the safety of both the surrogate and the baby, we would prefer to work with someone who follows the guidance of the clinic. We see this as a shared way to ensure the healthiest environment possible for the pregnancy. That said, we are very open to having a conversation about this! We’d love to hear your thoughts and find a path that makes everyone feel comfortable and safe.

Views on termination

While we are incredibly optimistic, we feel it’s important to be clear: we would consider termination in cases of life-limiting conditions or serious chromosomal abnormalities as advised by our doctors. We understand the weight of this topic and want to be on the same page from the start so that our surrogate feels fully aligned with our values. We view this as a shared responsibility to make the kindest choice for both the future child and you.

Fun facts about me

A fun fact about me is that I’ve worked at the same ice cream company for 13 years, starting as a scooper and working my way up to COO! It’s been such a rewarding journey, and yes, my favourite flavour is salted caramel (I’ve done plenty of “quality control” over the years). Along with my second job as a registered nurse, it is the perfect combination of meaningful, compassionate work alongside a little scoop of fun.

Interests and hobbies

I’m someone who truly values family, connection, and helping others. A big part of my life has always centered around caring for people, both personally and professionally. As a nurse, I’ve built a career around compassion and supporting others during important moments in their lives. I also work as an operations manager of an ice cream company, which keeps me motivated, challenged, and constantly learning.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy hiking, playing rec softball, and staying active. At home, life is full of energy thanks to our sweet (and very active!) Vizsla puppy. I also love quieter moments, reading a good book or hosting a board game night with friends.

Family means everything to me, and I’m passionate about helping those closest to me whenever possible.

What friends say
“

My friends would probably describe me as someone who shows up fully and wholeheartedly. They’d say I’m hardworking and driven, but more importantly, deeply caring. I care about doing things the right way, being honest, and keeping my word. Integrity and responsibility aren’t just values to me they are how I try to live every day.

They’d probably also say I’m the person they call when they need support. I genuinely value connection and community, and I believe in lifting others up whenever I can. I’m always growing, learning, and striving to be someone others can depend on.

Fun facts about me

A funny (and slightly ironic) fun fact about me is that I used to be allergic to nuts and peanuts growing up. My grandma, who loved to bake and spoil me, would routinely "forget" and offer me treats with nuts in them. I had to learned to stay on my toes at family gatherings! Thankfully I’ve outgrown the allergy, but it’s still a running family joke.

I’m also someone who genuinely can’t sit still for long, even on a beach you're more likely to fine me digging the biggest hole I can rather than sun tanning. Whether it’s building something, planning the next camping trip, or organizing a get-together, I love keeping life full and interesting.

Interests and hobbies

I’m happiest when I’m outdoors or spending time with the people I love. I enjoy staying active through running/biking, and I love hiking and camping whenever I get the chance. Being outside helps me feel grounded and energized.

At home, I enjoy woodworking and building projects, there is something really fulfilling about making something with my hands and seeing it come to life. Life is also full of fun and movement thanks to our Vizsla puppy, who keeps me on my toes.

Most of all, I value time with family and friends. Whether it’s a simple get-together, an outdoor adventure, or just relaxing together, time spent together is what matters most to me.

What friends say
“

My friends would probably say I’m someone who rarely sits still, I am always moving, planning, building, or helping in some way. I like having a plan and staying organized, but more than that, I like being prepared so I can show up fully for the people around me.

They’d describe me as hardworking and responsible, someone who takes commitments seriously and follows through. Honesty is really important to me, and I try to live my life in a way that reflects that.

Most of all, I think they’d say I’m caring and dependable. I’m the kind of person who steps in when someone needs help, who checks in, who shows up. Being there for others is part of who I am.
