Our fertility clinic has set a few guidelines to help ensure a safe and healthy journey for everyone involved. We’re looking for someone who’s in good health and maintains a balanced lifestyle. No need to be a triathlete, we’re not expecting anyone to run marathons, we simply hope to find someone who takes care of themselves. Having a strong support system of friends and family is a wonderful bonus, but what matters most to us is finding a surrogate who is mindful of her pregnancy, someone who makes thoughtful choices that nurture the precious life she’s helping bring into the world.

First and foremost, we deeply appreciate the sensitivity of this topic and believe that the best way to navigate such a complex and personal discussion is through open, one-on-one conversation. While we haven’t had to make a decision of this magnitude ourselves, our perspective is rooted in our core values. Above all, we respect that a woman has the right to make decisions about her own body. With that in mind, we want to share our initial thoughts. Like all hopeful parents, our greatest wish is for our children to be born healthy and free of life-threatening conditions. Neither of us are carriers of known genetic conditions, and our embryos have undergone PGT-A testing. However, we know that no test can predict every possible genetic or congenital disorder. If a serious medical concern were ever to arise, we would work closely with our doctor to fully understand all possible paths and their impact on everyone involved. While the idea of termination is something we never want to face, we also believe in prioritizing the well-being and quality of life of both the baby and our surrogate. In cases where a condition would severely compromise either, we would want our surrogate to be open to discussing the options available, including termination or absorption in the case of twins. We understand that this is a deeply personal and complex topic, and we are committed to approaching it with care, respect, and open communication.
