About them

"Hope is that stubborn thing inside us that insists, despite all the evidence to the contrary, that something better awaits us so long as we have the courage to keep reaching, to keep working, to keep fighting."

Relationship status

Married

I (Jamie) grew up on Disney movies, country crooners singing ballads of their one and only, and parents with a meet-cute that includes my Dad telling my Mom within seconds of meeting her that they were going to get married - all factors that quietly pushed the thought of looking at someone and immediately knowing they were the one for you. The logical side of my brain said that things like that don't happen in real life though, not in today's world, not to me. ...but then, as in all love stories, when I least expected it, I saw Alex again (we had run in the same friend group years back, but lost touch), and the second I saw him, I knew. It wasn't love at first sight - but a feeling that knew love was inevitable.

Almost ten years has passed since he looked at a very sleepy me, with my hair undone and no makeup on, and told me he wanted to have babies with me and grow old together. He is eternally the easiest person to love and his simple presence in life makes the good so much better and the bad somehow bearable.

Occupation

Property Manager

Interests and hobbies

I grew up in Alaska and am happiest barefoot in our vegetable garden or spending time taking care of my roses. I love creating art in all forms (pottery, embroidery, and painting are my current favorites) and spending time with our rescue pups, Valkyrie and Luna. My Mom had me cooking and baking with her as soon as I could stand on a little stool at the counter to learn how to stretch and fold dough while my Dad had me outside playing paintball and racing 4-wheelers - both parts of me I can't wait to pass down!

What friends say
“

I'm kind and compassionate and love to make people laugh. I've never met a stranger, am down for anything with friends, and fiercely protective of the people in my life. I have a heart for people and love to help however best suits the situation - be it running a food drive for a local pantry, sponsoring kids who need a hand up (I've built a relationship with three that I've sponsored for almost a decade now), or donating my hair regularly to help create wigs (Hair We Share is an amazing organization that provides high-quality, human hair wigs at no cost to individuals experiencing medical hair loss!)

Interests and hobbies

I'm a proud nerd with a love of comic books, 3D printing, sci-fi, video games, competitive board games, and tabletop war games. I'm a long time martial art student and have also been an instructor for many years. I also love aquariums - saltwater reef aquariums, specifically. I love DIY projects and home renovations and am currently wrapping up a huge basement remodel.

What friends say
“

The first thing people always point out is how I'll do anything for a laugh, but two compliments I'll never forget are my best friend calling me the most reliable man he knew and my father in law saying in his speech at our wedding that I have the quiet ability to make everyone around feel accepted and welcome. (Jamie stepping in here to note that he is also the kindest, easiest to love, brilliant man who always goes out of his way above and beyond for family and friends).
